Sections in this article:

1. What is PEAK Alerts?

PEAK Alerts (Alerts) are insights that are generated from the PEAK Rules Engine when a deployed rule goes into fault.

The PEAK Rules Engine includes a growing library of thousands of FDD template algorithms which are deployed across all building equipment to monitor performance. Examples of performance being monitored include overnight operation, mechanical failure, energy wastage, safety and compliance, tenant comfort, sensor performance and more.

Alerts when triggered are displayed as tickets and include a detailed explanation of the issue, affected equipment, recommended solution and data trend history. Alerts can be actioned and assigned to someone to investigate or ignored.

2. Viewing Alerts

Access Alerts from the sidebar by clicking Alerts > Select your Site

  1. Alerts: Open Alerts from sidenav.

  2. Inbox: New Alerts that go into Fault will start in Inbox.

  3. Seen or Recovered: New Alerts will move to Seen or Recovered if the Alert:

    1. Is Marked Seen;

    2. Is automatically Recovered

    3. Linked to an Action; or

    4. Ignored

  4. New Alerts: New Alerts that are not linked to an Action will display two options Action or Mark Seen.

  5. Alerts Actioned: Alerts that are linked to an Action will display a View Action button which will display the linked Action ticket.

3. Viewing Individual Alert

Click an Alert ticket to open and view details:

  1. Alert Title: Summary of issue, action required and affected equipment

  2. Equipment: Affected equipment

  3. Description: Description of the issue and PEAK Rules trigger criteria

  4. View Chart: Dynamic data trend history link which shows interval performance data and highlights time alert occurred

  5. Solution: Recommended solution for service contractor or site team to action issue

  6. Alert Status: Current status of Alert (Fault or Recovered) include transition history

  7. Rule: PEAK Rule linked to the Alert. Click to open rule in order to change thresholds, schedules, pause or delete

4. Actioning Alerts

Follow these steps to Action an Alert and assign someone to investigate:

  1. Action: Clicking green Action button opens a pre-populated draft Create Action form

  2. Assigned: Assign someone to investigate the Alert

  3. Linked Alerts: Auto links the new Action to the Alert

  4. Create: Create the Action ticket. Click Send button to send email to Assigned person

5. Ignoring Alerts

Alerts can be ignored by opening an Action and clicking the button "Ignore". Ignored Alerts will move to the bottom of the Alerts list.

Ignored Alerts will continue to monitor when an Alert transitions between Fault and Recovered with the current status visible when clicking open an Ignored Ticket.

Clicking Undo Ignore will display the current status of the Alert (Fault or Recovered) and will move it back into Inbox if in Fault.

6. Linking Multiple Alerts

Multiple Alerts can be group linked to a single Action:

  1. Go to Actions > Sites and create a new or open an existing Action

  2. Scroll down to Linked Alerts

  3. Search and select associated Alerts

  4. Click the tick icon to updated

7. Managing Alerts Linked to Actions

When to Close an Action?

When an Action that is linked to an Alert has been investigated and resolved by someone, the Action status should be moved to Closed by clicking the green Resolved button.

The linked Alert will also transition to Closed status and will also display whether it is currently in Fault or Recovered.

If a Closed Alert transitions back into Fault after it has Recovered it will create a new Alert ticket that is unlinked to any Actions.

When to Move Action to Not Doing?

When it is decided that no action should be taken for an Action that is linked to an Alert, the Action status should be moved to Not Doing by clicking the red Not Doing button. A comment should also be left as to why the Action was moved to Not Doing.

The linked Alert will automatically be Ignored so it will not create any Alert tickets if triggered back into Fault.

Note: closing an Action where no work is done will trigger a new Alert ticket if it faults again (see above).
