1. How are Thermal Comfort and Relative Humidity Scores calculated?

PEAK Indoor Environment (PEAK IE) includes two modules that track a building’s thermal comfort and relative humidity against ideal comfort conditions and setpoint controls.

  • Ideal Zones: are those where the average daily zone temp or humidity is within acceptable bounds (default 21.0°C to 24.9°C for comfort and 40% to 60% for humidity within weekday working hours). These bounds are adjustable at both a site or level and zone setting.

  • Warm or Wet Zones: are those that are above the acceptable bounds

  • Cold or Dry Zones: are those that are below the acceptable bounds

Score: An overall monthly % performance score is calculated for both comfort and humidity and is calculated as:

Score (%) = (Daily sum of ideal zone temp readings) / (Daily total zone temp readings)

1. Why do we Need to Tune Comfort and Humidity?

The thermal comfort and humidity score is calculated based on all the available sensors in the building. Very often including all the sensors represents a conservative score but we might be interested in knowing the comfort score excluding certain levels or zone due to various reasons (eg. vacancy, fit-out work) or changing the ideal ranges (e.g. comms rooms, kitchens). This can be easily achieved by changing your site's settings in PEAK.

Your account must have administrative privileges in order to change site settings. Contact your client admin or CIM Support if you are trying to change your site settings.

2. How to Exclude Levels and Zones?

Go to Sites > Search Site > View Site (eye icon) > Scroll Down to Thermal Comfort & Relative Humidity > Click Edit > Scroll Down to Level & Zone Configuration

  1. Add Configuration: Click Add Configuration in Level and Zone Configuration

  2. Level & Zone: Select each level and zone combination to exclude from the calculation

  3. Exclude Toggle Button: Select the exclude toggle to ON and click Add

  4. Click the Update button to exclude the selected zone and level.

3. How to Set Custom Ideal Temp and Humidity Ranges?

Go to Sites > Search Site > View Site (eye icon) > Scroll Down to Thermal Comfort & Relative Humidity > Click Edit

To modify your default site Thermal Comfort and Relative Humidity score parameters:

  1. Thermal Comfort: Update the min and max acceptable temperature

  2. Relative Humidity: Update the min and max acceptable relative humidity %

  3. Applicable Hours: Update the daily start and end time for when the scores should be calculated

To modify the acceptable bounds for a specific level and zone scroll down to Level and Zone Configuration and click Add Configuration:

  1. Level and Zone: Select the relevant level and/ or zone

  2. Configuration Parameters: Update the custom min and max acceptable bounds

  3. Schedule: Specify custom thermal comfort schedule

  4. Click the Add button and then the Update button to save settings
