How to Commission submeters on PEAK?

Submeters can be commissioned/integrated onto PEAK in one of the methods we integrate other equipment. We are able to poll data from Building Management System (BMS) in the following methods:

  • BACnet

  • Haystack

  • SQL

  • API’s

  • vACEr (CSV)

What Medadata’s are Acceptable?

We accept over ~50 different meta types to appropriately tag submeters. However, to source and analyse the submeter on PEAK Meter following meta ( accumulators) has been allowed for calculation and processing in the backend.

Electrical -

  • Actual Energy Consumption (Wh, kWh, MWh)

  • Reactive Energy Consumption (VArh, kVArh)

Water

  • Water Usage (L,kL,m3)

Gas

  • Cumulative Gas Usage

How to Add/Source Submeter (Electricity/Water/Gas) on PEAK Meter?

Once we have commissioned/integrated a submeter onto PEAK. We can source them to analyse on PEAK Meter. These steps are not required for submeters to view only as raw data on PEAK Charts. See the example completed form below.

Your account must have administrative privileges in order to change site settings. Contact your client admin or CIM Support if you are trying to change your site settings.

Go to Sites > Search Site > View Site (eye icon) > Scroll Down to Meters

  1. Select Electrical/Gas/Water (Default Electricity)

  2. Click Create (Meter Hierarchy) - This will open on the right side of the screen

  3. Select Meter Provider - Use “PEAK Meter” as a provider to source an integrated submeter

  4. Meter Number - This is a text field. Assign a name to the meter being created which will show up under PEAK Meter. Also, this name can be different from the name of the submeter from which the meter will be sourced.

  5. Utility Type - Select a utility type (Electricity/Gas/Water)

  6. Type - Select a type of meter as “Physical” to source data

  7. Data Interval - Pick the data interval (eg 15 min if we are polling 15 mins interval data for this meter)

  8. Parent Stream - Select Parent Meter for this meter. This is to create meter hierarchy and virtual meter. This can be ignored and modified at a later stage when we have access to single-line diagrams. A separate article to cover this will be shared.

  9. PEAK Demand Max Target: Ignore this field for now.

  10. Country - This and the next step is most important at this stage (potentially will be removed later on). Select the country where our BACER/BMS is located. Once this is selected corresponding timezone options will show up on step 11.

  11. Timezone - Choose the timezone in which we are polling the data. This is very important for us to accurately process and calculate the data in the backend.(Ignore the Australia/Brisbane warning)

  12. Click Create Meter Stream to source the integrated submeter and follow the steps in creating meter stream section.

  13. Once the meter stream is created. Click Create and review in PEAK Meters

Example Completed Form.

How to Create Meter Stream?

  1. Select Stream ID - Enter 1 if there is only one stream with this meter name

  2. Description - Add description as note (eg. Tenant - 1). This can be ignored as this will not be displayed on charts

  3. Source Favourite - Toggle switch ON will expand this modal to select submeter which will be associated with this PEAK Meter.

  4. Equipment - Select Equipment (submeter) that needs to be mapped

  5. Favourite - Select favourite from the dropdown. (Important select only the meta listed above). Other favourites (Active import, Reactive Export & Import) can be sourced (if available). Important: Map reactive only if we have reactive meta available for the submeter

  6. Multiplier - Enter scaling factor or conversion factor (else enter 1) Eg. Cumulative Gas Usage is commissioned in m3. Set the multiplier at 38.6 to display in MJ on PEAK Meters. Set appropriate multiplier to display Electricity in kWh and Water in kL.

  7. Max Value - Enter the maximum value at which the meter resets. If that information is not available ignore this field.

  8. Create - Once all the parameters have been entered click create and then step 13.
